Welcome to our Stuffed Animal Sleepover, an annual library event designed to bring boks to life for our K-2nd grade students! This fun-filled literacy program helps young readers build excitement for books while engaging in a creative and interactive library experience.
The Stuffed Animal Sleepover is part of our I Love to Read Month (February) and National Reading Month (March) celebrations!
Throughout February and March, we celebrate reading with engaging activities, including Read Across America Week/Love of Reading Week, encouraging students to develop a lifelong love for books through engaging activities, read-alouds, and fun challenges.
Our sleepover event is a wonderful way to highlight the joy of reading and make books come alive for young readers!
The Stuffed Animal Sleepover is a special event where students bring their favorite stuffed animals to school for a library adventure! The stuffed animals stay overnight in the library, where they explore, read books, and have all sorts of fun! When students return for their scheduled library visit the next day, they’ll be reunited with their stuffy and enjoy a slideshow of their overnight adventures.
The day before their regularly library class, students will bring their stuffed animal to school.
Each stuffy gets a name tag so it can be safely returned to it's owner.
Stuffed animals explore different areas of the library - reading books, playing games, and exploring
Photos are taken of their overnight fun!
During their next library visit, students:
Watch a slideshow of their stuffy's adventures.
Recieve a goodie bag with a printed letter, bookmark, and small prize.
Enjoy a special read-aloud and fun library activities!
This event is open to all K-2nd grade students at Hudlow Elementary.

No worries! We'll have a few library "loaner" stuffies available so every child can partcipate.
Yes! The slideshow will be played in the library, and some highlights may be shared on our library's website and social media. A copy of the slideshow will also be sent to your child's teacher to distribute to parents/guardians.
Parents/guardians just need to help their child choose a stuffed animal and sign the permission slip. We also encourage parents to use our literacy tips at home to keep the fun going!
